Summer’s approaching as

The heat is encroaching as

We run inside in hopes to hide

From the heat approaching that we don’t want to find.

Prepare the pools, balloon fights, and waterslides

for the exciting children ready for the ride

of the summer heat.

I went down south to New Orleans
To get myself some good Red Beans

The lady was friendly and told me to come on in
In her sweet old accent I was told “Come in so we can let the good times roll”

I was treated swell even when I walked down the streets
Even people I didn’t know treated me well and gave me treats

I will never forget New Orleans
The home of the sweetest people in the world

Mikaela - Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras:

Indians come out and fill our eyes with color
As we watch them march down our streets in the many multi-colors

Little children reach up and scream “throw me something!”
As those on floats throw every little thing

Beads in the trees remain
As we try and refrain from going insane back at school

Of the three week party we will never feel ashamed
Because at the end of the day this is our city
New Orleans knows how to party
We let the good times roll

Mikaela - NOLA Myths

Entering the world that New Orleans withholds

We established a culture that we can call our own

From the outsiders point of view it is told

We party all night and at noon we go home

What a tragic!

The Big Easy is not measly a party palace

We are so well known for letting the good times roll

People overlook the hard work that we put into our homes

They may overlook the foundation of our happy soul

Which is we rebuilt this city and for that we rejoice!
