It's a rather funny word
for most people it means
the place they return to
after work, dinner, or school
for people of new orleans
it means their lifeline
nola homes never die
generations and generations
of families move in and out
but they always keep their roots
in other cities, homes fade away
families slowly forget the memories
that were once made there
but in new orleans it is quite the opposite
whether its the same family living
there for the past fifty years
or a new one, memories are
the roots of the home
never to be forgotten
