Who are we?

It is the mission of young New Orleans Writing together to provide opportunities for young people in the Greater New Orleans area to write together on a diversity of topics.

Who are we?

Simply defined: a group of young people writing to understand.  In such a diverse city, writing provides an effective means to communicate and understand.  Through storytelling, commonalities are acknowledged and the unknown becomes the familiar.  At young New Orleans Writing together, youth in the 6th-12th grades in the Greater New Orleans area  will have the opportunity to share their personal stories and praise the experiences of their peers.  We are many, but our stories create one New Orleans.

How do we work?
Once every few weeks a new topic will be displayed on the blog. Students enrolled in the 6th-12th grade in a Greater New Orleans area school (public or private) will submit their responses. Student writing will be posted as it is received. Know someone that would love to contribute? Pass the word.

Submission Logistics:
Submissions should be in response to one OR a combination of both of the blog topics. Poetry and prose, up to 500 words in length, should be emailed as a Microsoft Word attachment. Emails should include author’s first name, age, and School.  Submissions can be sent to: youngneworleanswritingtogether@gmail.com
